Job Description

Hurdle is a mental health tech startup for invisible barriers.

We are Hurdle.

Hurdle is mental healthcare for invisible barriers. Hurdle is the leading provider of culturally intentional mental health services for Black people, and inclusive of other minorities. Our digital platform provides a comprehensive suite of teletherapy services and self-mastery tools designed to meet the needs of diverse populations who are underserved by traditional resources.

About the role:

We currently serve clients in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC, with plans to expand nationally. All of our services are provided via teletherapy. At Hurdle, we’ve built a custom training program to help therapists broach the unique experiences ethnic minorities are encountering on a daily basis. Training is compensated, and all therapists are required to complete this training to be allowed to provide services on our platform. We facilitate and pay for providers to be credentialed with the major payors in which we are in network. A commitment of no less than 8 hours per week is required.

We provide ongoing clinical support and professional development to all of our therapists. This is a great role for someone with experience providing talk therapy and at minimum post 2 years of clinical licensure, but this is not a requirement.

Benefits of joining the Hurdle community:

• Sense of Community

A community of committed therapists who learns and grows together.

• Professional Development

Access to exclusive trainings and continued learning opportunities.

• Predictability

Make your own schedule and be fairly compensated for your time.

• Administrative Ease

We offer competitive rates, and all you have to do is your part–– provide care, keep quality clinical notes, and we will do the rest.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Licensed in the professional discipline in DC, Virginia, and/or Maryland – LCPC, LCSW, LICSW, LMFT, PH.D, PsyD and LCSW-C accepted.
  • Experience completing various intake forms and basic clinical assessments.
  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) input.
  • Malpractice Insurance preferred.
  • Prior training in CBT and trauma-informed treatment preferred.

  • Facilitate individual therapy sessions (experience with group therapy a plus).
  • Complete necessary administrative forms in a timely manner and in compliance with the Privacy Act (intake forms, EMR input, etc.)
  • Participate in consultations, wellness calls and community meetings with fellow therapists.
  • Attend and participate in bi-monthly trainings/check-ins with VP of Clinical Care.
  • Progress notes and treatment plans (when needed) within 48 hours of scheduled sessions.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA/ Privacy Act Training and protocol.
  • Contact primary care physicians, psychiatrists, and other specialists to request patient medical record information, and/or make notification of therapeutic involvement.
  • Complete relevant training including Hurdle’s onboarding and training program. The training is divided into two parts: self-directed learning and a live virtual training.
